Alamo Drafthouse Cinema will present an outdoor screening of the movie JAWS on Tuesday, Aug. 20, at Mercato for its monthly series, Movies on the Lawn.
In partnership with Mercato, the screening of JAWS will begin at 8:15 p.m. on the event lawn. Prior to the movie, families can enjoy shark-themed activities starting at 7 p.m., including a shark race, magnet fishing game, dunk tank, face painting and spin-to-win prize wheel with chances to win movie and popcorn passes. Additionally, attendees are encouraged to arrive early for an opportunity to receive complimentary popcorn, soda and water provided by Alamo Drafthouse Cinema.
In Steven Spielberg’s 1975 American thriller film, JAWS, the snoozy resort town of Amity Island finds itself plunged into a never-ending nightmare after a shark with a voracious appetite begins prowling the once-tranquil waters. It’s up to police chief Brody, oceanographer Hooper and veteran shark hunter Quint to save the town from this seemingly unstoppable predator. More than 40 years later, everyone still recognizes John Williams’ Oscar-winning score as one of the most iconic pieces of film music.
The monthly Movies on the Lawn event is free, but those planning to attend are asked to RSVP through the event Facebook page. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for the most comfortable viewing experience.
